Everything You Need To Know About Ovulation and Hypothalamic Amenorrhea

I talk A LOT about periods and don’t get me wrong we love periods over here at the HA Society! BUT we forget (or maybe are unaware) that ovulation is really the star of the show, not our periods, which are really just a byproduct of ovulation (in most cases).

We tend to, unfortunately, hyper-focus on getting our bleed back, VS focusing on our ovulation – because we really notice when our monthly bleed is absent but ovulation is happening behind the scenes.

Here’s the thing: if you ovulate, you WILL bleed. If you bleed, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you ovulated. That’s why it’s important to focus on it more than focusing on your bleed.

But why is ovulation so important?

It’s not just about fertility either! Each time we ovulate we produce the hormones estradiol and progesterone. These two hormones are crucial for optimal health and crucial bodily functions like bone health, heart health, brain health and so much more. (Read more here)

To help you better understand ovulation and learn how to know if you’re ovulating or not or how to gauge when your first recovery period will arrive, I've compiled articles and YouTube videos where I talk all about ovulation!

How To Know If You've Ovulated When Recovering from Hypothalamic Amenorrhea

If you’re recovering from hypothalamic amenorrhea, you’re likely not just wondering when your period is coming, but you’re also wondering…”have I ovulated yet?!”

So, how do you know if you have? This article will dive into how you can tell if you’ve ovulated.

How I Solved My HA and Luteal Phase Defect and Got Pregnant

If you’re looking for information about getting pregnant after having no period OR solving a luteal phase defect in your cycle, I’m your girl!

In this blog post, we’re going to discuss how I solved my short luteal phase defect and then took action to get pregnant. I also have a YouTube video on this!

Understanding how to identify ovulation can seem a bit complicated when you begin, but it’s simple once you finally have it explained in a way you can absorb, and especially when you finally see it happen on your chart – it all comes together!

But while you're waiting for ovulation to happen, especially if you have NO period at all (hypothalamic amenorrhea) there can be a lot of wondering..."is THIS ovulation? wait, no...maybe this is actually ovulation?!"  - I get it.

In this video, I'm using a listener's question to break down how to identify ovulation.

Every single week we get asked this question inside of The HA Society! What should the next ovulation look like once you’ve had your first period? Is it normal for it to be late?!

The fun thing about this question is that it means more and more of our members are getting their recovery periods. New levels, new devils, right? In this episode, we dive into what to expect for your second recovery period.

OPK's are a helpful tool for recovery, BUT they come with some important need-to-know information. This video aims to give you the context you need to use them most effectively both during HA recovery and once you’ve recovered.

Wondering what some common symptoms of ovulation are? In this 2 part series, I start with three simple signs of ovulation.

1. Temperature

2. Cervical mucus

3. Breast tenderness

4. Acne/zits

5. Moodiness and sweating (sometimes)

Welcome to part 2 of my Signs of Ovulation videos, aimed to help you figure out when the heck ovulation is happening since you've had HA for so long and you have no idea what to expect?!

HA Recovery is more than just having a period VS not having a period. There are steps, milestones and clues to look at along the way to help you determine if you're going in the right direction or not.

In today's YouTube episode I break down the main metrics I use to determine if a client is on the path to recovery or if we need to make tweaks, and what those tweaks might be!

Hypothalamic Amenorrhea recovery, aka getting your period back, is the FIRST STEP to getting that baby...and getting that baby is all that you want. So why, oh why, is it so hard to let yourself do some of the most challenging parts? Look, you know what to do but let's have a heart-to-heart about making it happen.

This video is a bit of a mish-mash of explaining HOW I got pregnant when I have fussy periods and a history of hypothalamic amenorrhea (missing periods).

I talk about how I tracked my cycles and fixed my short luteal phase in order to get pregnant.

Then I share my first 10 weeks of symptoms! ENJOY!

I hope this was helpful and provided you with a ton of value on your HA recovery journey!
